Sincere Thanks to all who supported the Christmas Priest’s Collection & indeed all the Church collections throughout the year. Thanks to all who have helped in the life of the parish over the year, the Ministers of the Word & Eucharist, The Altar Societies, Altar Servers, Sacristan Michael McCabe, Pastoral Council, Choirs and all who have an a support to me and the work of the church over the year. ** Please note change in Mass Times for January. For the next 6 months, January to June, the Saturday Night Vigil Mass is in St. John the Baptist Church, Woodford at 7pm and the Sunday Morning Mass is in St. Brendan’s Church, Looscaun at 11am.

A course for new & existing Eucharistic Ministers takes place in St. Cuan’s College, Castleblakeney on 4 consecutive Monday evenings 8-9.30pm beginning Jan. 14th. Course open to practicing Catholics who are willing to join their own Church’s rota and/or willing to bring Holy Communion to people who are housebound/living in Nursing Homes. Fit4Life 2019 a free training programme with sessions for all ages and all abilities returns to Woodford Pitch on January 5th 2019 at 10 a.m. and will continue each Saturday for 6 weeks. In conjunction with this initiative the Club will partake in this year's "Ireland Lights Up" in partnership with RTE's Operation Transformation and supported by Healthy Ireland and Get Ireland Walking. Organised walks under lights will take place at the Clubhouse Walking Track on Thursday evenings commencing 17th January and will run until 21st February. Further details to follow.

The Engine Room, Portumna are running a 12 Hour Indoor Cycle in Aid of The Mark Pollock Trust (a pioneer to finding a cure for paralysis) on Sun. Jan. 6th 2019. Starts at 7am till 6pm Looking for people cycle up to 1 hour on spinning bikes. 20 euro per person. Donations are welcome also. To book your bike, Contact Sarah 087-2117262

Parish Envelopes: The Parish Envelope Boxes (Church Offering)for 2019 are available in the church The Woodford boxes are available in St. John the Baptist Church near Our Lady’s Altar and the Looscaun Boxes are in St. Brendan’s Church near Our Lady’s Altar also. Please note your 2019 number may be different to your 2018 number. You may use the spare envelope in the box in the meantime.

If you have no Box allocated to you, you may take an unmarked box and write your name on the first envelope you use. Thank you for your financial support of the parish.

 

Looscaun Ladies Club are meeting for Nolaig na Mban at The Wren Bar, Woodford on 6th January 2019 at 8pm. Light refreshments. All new members welcome.

Anam Cara Galway is holding a Parent Evening on Wed. Jan. 2nd at 7.20pm in the Clayton Hotel, Galway. This event is free 7 open to all bereaved parents regardless of the age your child died, the circumstances of their death or whether their death was recent or not. The Annual Mummers Festival takes place in New Inn Leisure Centre on Saturday night 12th January at 7 pm. A great night of traditional entertainment is guaranteed in a comfortable venue.

PAG & Shorelines Arts Festival would like to wish all our friends, sponsors, performers, volunteers and audiences a very Happy Christmas! And on the 12th night as is customary, the annual Arts Dinner will once again take place in The Ferry Inn Restaurant on January 6th at 6.30 pm.
