Woodford Tidy Towns Weekly Clean Up in and around the village continues this Thursday 18th July meeting at Youth Club Hall @ 7pm. We would love more volunteers to help out with painting, weeding, sweeping and planting etc. This year we will be working around creating a more sustainable environment and have lots of new ideas so dust down the high viz jackets , bring a paint brush or sweeping brush and be part of a great Woodford Community.

The annual national pilgrimage to Croagh Patrick ‘Reek Sunday’ takes place on Sunday 28 July 28. Mass will be celebrated on the summit of the mountain on the hour with the first Mass at 8:00am and the last Mass at 2:00pm. Confessions will be available on the summit from 7:30am to 2:00pm.

Woodford Library will be running the Summer Reading Challenge this July

Annual Concelebrated Mass of St. Feichin. Mass will be concelebrated in St. Feichin’s Cemetery, Lackan in Abbey parish on Sunday July 21st at 7pm to honour the 1439th anniversary of the birth of St. Feichin, the Patron Saint of Abbey parish. Covered seating is available. A cup of tea for all after Mass. Everybody is welcome.Those attending this Mass should go to the village of Abbey and follow the direction signs.


Irish Workhouse Centre, Portumna are hosting On Sat July 20th, from 1pm-4pm, conference titled ‘A celebration of People, Place and Heritage’. Admission is free Also an exhibition of the paintings of artist Mary Conroy for two weeks from 27th July. Originally from Killeen, Mary is a graduate of the Crawford College of Art and her distinctive work consists of landscapes, especially seascapes, inoils, acrylic and watercolours. The exhibition launch is on Saturday 27th July from 2pm-5pm..

Classic Meets Irish Concert The German group The Rhinettes play music from Haendel, Telemann, Scarlatti, Elgar, and more.The Irish side well be represented by Murine Hurley-Goode, harp, her daughter Aoibhinn Goode, mezzo-soprano and from Eyrecourt, David Kennedy, tenor. Concert takes place on Saturday 3rd August at 9pm, doors open at 8.30pm at St John the Baptist Church Eyrecourt in aid of Church Restoration Fund. Refreshments served at interval. Admission €10
